So why this blog?

Three reasons really.

First, catharsis. People who know me know that I go on at least one rant per day. Most often my rants occur just after I get out of the shower (not sure why that is, but it explains why I frequently describe old roommates and my family as “very patient people”). By “rant”, I don’t mean to suggest that I rave like a lunatic, but rather I frequently engage people in what can best be described as a unidirectional conversation where I am talking “at” them instead of “with” them. My close friends and spouse , mostly to shut me up, have often suggested that I “should write a blog”. I thought I’d finally take them up on their suggestion.

Secondly, I hope that some of what I post might actually help or be of interest to someone. Over the past 12 years I have worn a few different hats (private equity and debt investor, in-house legal counsel to an investment fund, management consultant, technology lawyer in private practice, federal public servant). I have been very fortunate to have worked with some extremely talented, experienced and intelligent people across a wide array of projects and companies, some of which I hope has rubbed off. This blog is meant to share some of what I have learned, and continue to learn, from those people.

Third, and most importantly, it looks like fun.
